Barbara Cisman (Niemeyer)

Barbara Ann Niemeyer Obituary

Niemeyer (Cisman), Barbara Ann “Bobbie”, age 86, formerly of Dallas, TX passed away La Grange, TX Monday June 24, 2024.

Her local acquaintances knew her as Ms. Bobbie, or aka “The Dog Lady”. She was not offended by her nickname because of her immense love for her dogs and truly the only beings she trusted.

Bobbie was a graduate of Hobert High School class of 1956, she received a degree in Modern Art from Ball State University, (Muncie, IN) class of 1960 and was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority. She was of the Catholic Church faith.

Ms. Bobbie was a quite accomplished woman. When her and her husband moved to Dallas in 1962 she taught Art class in the Carrollton-Farmers Branch district, and did runway modeling for Neiman Marcus (at the old Valley View Mall, Dallas, TX). She became a swimming instructor around 1970 for DISD (where she taught her daughter at 18 months old to jump off the 1-meter diving board and swim to the side (with help) – and so became the Mom & Tot swim program that she taught at several of the local swimming pools). Later in life received her Black Belt in TaeKwonDo, and trained in Hapkido (Korean Martial Arts), she would also design T-shirts for many of the Karate Tournaments that she attended across the USA.

In December of 2020, Ms. Bobbie moved into her forever home just outside of La Grange. Although she rarely asked for anything for herself, she would accept things for her beloved dogs. For 3 years she lived in the comfort of a home with large kennels for her fur babies. Her health began to fail her and in March she became a resident of Monument Hill Nursing Center.

Proceeded in death by her parents: John S. Cisman, Mary A. Delancy (Cisman) Vaughn, (step-father) Alfred L. Vaughn, sister, Margaret L (Cisman) Barefoot and brother John J. Cisman, and 1 grandson.

She is survived by her daughter Marimargret (Niemeyer) Mills (her husband Brad), son Duanallen Niemeyer (his wife Daisy), 4 grandsons, nieces, nephew and a host of friends far and wide.
